I have a small confession to make.
I am really proud of myself lately!
I’ve been taking some chances recently and I’m a little more than proud that not only am I taking these risks, but I think that they’re either paying off, or I’m being let down easy and learning that it’s okay to try, because even when it doesn’t work, it’s alright!
biggest most obvious risk that I’ve taken is this two jobs thing. I did a stint of two jobs last summer, but they were both pretty easy and I’d done them before. No new job stress. Now I’ve got issues with availability and learning the whole new clothes thing, and there has definitely been a day or two that I’ve wanted to just throw in the towel, but I’m not! I’ve stuck through it and the paychecks are starting to be a definite pay off!
The one that I hope pays off for my roommate and I is emailing my landlord to ask about starting a vegetable garden in that grass area between the sidewalk and the curb. I haven’t heard back from him yet, and I know it’s late in the season to start such gardening, but it’s worth a shot! I’d love to try out the square foot gardening that my friend Leng has started in his backyard!
The most rewarding of things that I’ve tried lately is cooking! I mean, it’s always nice to try a new recipe that ends up amazing, but when it’s a nice, comforting mac & cheese it’s even better! Last night I tried this recipe from Campbell’s soup and I love it. Because it was me making it, I grated about half a cup of cheddar cheese and mixed that in as well. I was very happy about how it turned out.
I think I’ll use some more bread crumbs next time, and I’d love to find a more actual cheese version that’s as easy as this to make, but for now I’m still happy with this. Plus, it’s super cheap! I think next time I’ll double it!
There are some other (more personal) things I’ve done lately and some other stresses that had me worried, but because of the risks I’ve been taking, I’m working on getting through those and getting everything on track. I think it’s working pretty well!
